Looking for Humpbacks!
Aloha,
The Humpbacks were hiding during our Tuesday Wake up with the Whales Cruise, so we called it a fluke and invited everyone back again for FREE. By the way, the Ocean Sports guarantee is a “Real Guarantee“…if you don’t see a Humpback on our morning Wake up with the Whales Cruise or Mid-Morning Whale Watch Cruise, you can keep coming back on either one of those cruises until you do (we don’t limit you to just one extra opportunity to see whales)! And if you’d prefer, you can choose to upgrade to a Snorkel Adventure Cruise or Whales & Cocktails at Sunset Cruise for just the difference in fares (though neither of these trips are “guaranteed” for Humpback sightings). Why do we do this? We love to see Humpbacks in their natural environment and we want to share the adventure with you!!
Mahalo,
Claire
Ocean Sports Whale Fact of the Day: You may have heard that Humpback Whales are no longer on the Endangered Species List…but don’t worry, they’re still protected. In autumn 2017, after researchers were able to determine that what been classified as a single global population of Humpbacks is actually 14 distinct populations, NOAA removed “our” Humpbacks (and 8 other populations) from the Endangered Species List. In the United States, the protection Humpbacks receive under the Marine Mammal Protection Act has not changed. I’ll provide more info about this protection tomorrow.
